Foxes
The largest fox is the Red Fox and you can find the red fox just about anywhere in West Virginia. They run when hunted..... the gray fox which refuses to run will climb up the nearest tree like a cat or seek shelter in their burrows.

Red foxes are in the same family (Canidae) as coyotes, wolves and dogs.

Red Foxes mate for life and live in family groups or may be solitary.

They come out at night to hunt rodents include, rabbits, field mice, moles, rats, wild birds, beetles, worms and they rarely prey on cats and small dogs, their diet varies within their range.

They are observed mainly at night, but before sunrise is a good time.
